The Felss Innovation Day

The automotive industry has been undergoing constant change for years. Besides new driving concepts, digitalization and networking this affects many more exciting topics. What do these changes bring with them? The demand to shape the future efficiently! So what does efficiency mean in the context of the described change and how can the automotive and supplier industry actively deal with these changes? The Felss Group has dedicated itself to these and other questions - at the Innovation Day "Future Efficiency".

The lectures by different experts from the automotive and supplier industry offered exciting insights. One of the top-class speakers of this year’s Innovation Day was Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Putz, Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU, who spoke about Industry 4.0 and related challenges for the automotive and supplier industry.

Holger Richter from Schlegel und Partner GmbH spoke in his talk about “challenges not only for automotive market researchers“. He made it clear that overall flexibility and speed are needed to keep up within the industry and be able to respond adequately to change even in times of uncertainty.

In addition, Kevin Kritzer and Stefan Bott from Robert Bosch GmbH reported on their experiences with the current challenges in the field of logistics. In the last lecture, Torsten-André Kunz, Head of Process Development at Felss Rotaform GmbH, spoke about existing challenges and opportunities at Felss. The day was closed by a moderated podium discussion.

The framework program not only provided insights into current research and developments, but also provided an opportunity for open and controversial discussions. A big topic was the "efficiency of tomorrow“, to which the own innovations of the Felss group were presented.

The Felss Service, for example, demonstrated live, how in the future with the help of digital googles incl. camera, the so-called „smart glasses“, machine malfunctions can be remedied by remote diagnostics. Often, the costly arrival of a Felss Service employee can be avoided by using these special glasses.

In addition, the Felss Group presented the visitors with the Felss Edge Device, another highly innovative product and thus offered the opportunity to experience Industry 4.0 live.  This innovation enables the digital and smart networking of machines.

All significant machine, product and component data can be recorded and stored with high performance. The computing power and intelligence on the Felss Edge device enables real-time analysis, data filtering and knowledge generation at the data source. This considerably reduces the data volume for transfer in IoT platforms.

Besides to the Felss Service and Felss Edge Device, guests also had the chance to experience the Tube+ live process through a Felss employee.

In addition, the Felss Rotaform outlets presented their range of services from the idea to the component in mass production. Moreover, visitors were able to get to know the exhibited Aximus machine better.
