In the case of travelling drives in storage and retrieval machines and large portal axes, as well as in control cabinet-based handling systems, users can reduce energy consumption with each movement and minimize the control cabinet by using lighter and more compact drives. Here Bosch Rexroth is setting new standards with the automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION. The ctrlX DRIVE drives require up to 50 percent less installation space and are up to 35 percent lighter. The coupled DC link and the Smart Energy Mode software function reduce the required connected load by up to 70 percent.
The ctrlX CORE control hardware can be integrated into the ctrlX DRIVE without additional installation space. ctrlX CORE is based on the real-time operating system Linux, probably the most stable and secure of its kind. The container technology of the operating system allows programmers to map all functions and applications with separate apps. An important architectural element of ctrlX AUTOMATION is the ctrlX Data Layer. It ensures centralized, authorized access to all real-time and non-real-time data of the installed apps.
The web-based engineering and a modern software architecture reduce the engineering effort by up to 50 percent. Manufacturers thus automate customized solutions much faster. In addition to the PLC languages to IEC 61131, developers can also implement their own functions, protected by know-how, in a variety of programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python Blockly, the C languages or the open source software Node-RED.
With more than 30 direct connection options, users can integrate automation quickly and future-proof into their merchandise management and IT systems as well as IoT applications. The entire automation platform is Secure by Design and meets the IT security standards according to IEC 62443.
