The fear that Manufacturing-X will remain a purely German project seems to have been banished. According to a press release, various international associations and organisations have agreed to establish the International Manufacturing-X Council (IM-X) in order to develop a decentralised and cooperative data ecosystem for smart manufacturing.
The members of the International Manufacturing-X Council include Germany, Austria, France, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Italy, the Netherlands and the USA. More members are expected to join soon.
International Manufacturing-X pursues the goal of making the manufacturing industry globally fit for the future. To this end, IM-X relies on decentralised and collaborative data spaces to improve resilience, sustainability and competitive strength. IM-X defines global standards and operates a basic technical infrastructure to ensure interoperability and sovereignty and aims to continuously expand its partner network.
Open collaboration, inclusivity, transparency and equal treatment of all partners in this international Manufacturing-X ecosystem are key. The International Manufacturing-X Council will jointly determine what is needed, what needs to be done and who is responsible.
The next milestone on the agenda for the IM-X Council is a kick-off meeting with all partners on 18 and 19 January 2024. The main aim of this meeting is to further define the collaboration process.
