Within a year of planning and construction, a German drive manufacturer opened a new plant in Changzhou, China, in December 2023. The new building combines resources and expertise acquired over decades and represents another milestone in the company's history.
In the presence of official and government representatives, invited guests and executives of the HOERBIGER Group, the ceremonial inauguration of the new production site in Changzhou took place in mid-December. Within a period of only twelve months, a modern plant was built in the Chinese industrial metropolis. From now on, it will combine production, the service business and the operations of both the Compression and Safety divisions under one roof.
“Thanks to the good cooperation with the local authorities and partners, we can tailor our products specifically to the needs of our Chinese customers and produce locally in the immediate vicinity”, emphasised Wolfgang Sautter, member of the Executive Board and Managing Director of the Compression division, in his acceptance speech.
Long-standing connection to China
The new production facility for 250 employees not only sets new standards in terms of sustainability. It is also an important part of HOERBIGER's business strategy and a clear commitment to continued activities in China. HOERBIGER decided to establish a presence in China as early as 1995 and opened its first production facility in Shanghai 28 years ago.
“This decision was a big step for HOERBIGER at the time and a very important strategic decision driven by the dynamic market, incredibly talented workforce and the country's relentless spirit of progress”, CEO Thorsten Kahlert told the guests in attendance.
China is one of HOERBIGER's most important markets with high potential for long-term growth - especially when it comes to future topics such as hydrogen, emission reduction and digitalisation. “This new building is proof of the creativity and commitment of our teams and the start of a new chapter for HOERBIGER”, said Kahlert.
