HIMA has acquired the Norwegian technology company Origo Solutions, as the company reports in a press release. The corresponding company purchase agreement was signed on 8 January and came into effect on 31 January. With this transaction, both companies intend to continue their growth strategies and expand their range of solutions for the process industry and the renewable energy sector.
The focus would be on the digitalisation of functional safety, which HIMA is driving forward under the motto “Safety goes digital”. Origo Solutions was previously owned by Moreld AS (60.1%) and Aker Capital AS (39.9%) and was part of the Moreld Group, a leading industrial, multidisciplinary engineering group offering services in the offshore energy and marine sectors.
“Origo Solutions has developed favourably over many years through good cooperation with customers and business partners”, says Jan Erik Rugland, Executive Vice President of Moreld Group and former Chairman of Origo Solutions. “Moreld is pleased that Origo Solutions, as part of HIMA, will continue this success and further expand the long-standing partnership. We are confident that customers and employees will benefit from this”, he explains.
Automation solutions for offshore and onshore systems
Origo Solutions is in a leading market position in Norway and has established itself in particular with safety and automation solutions for monitoring, controlling and protecting offshore and onshore installations as well as with integrated SCADA systems for the wind industry. Origo Solutions has also been the exclusive HIMA representative in Norway for more than 20 years. “By joining forces, Origo Solutions and HIMA will further expand our position in Scandinavia. New opportunities will arise for us worldwide in the field of renewable energies”, says Jörg de la Motte, CEO of the HIMA Group.
HIMA will benefit from Origo Solutions' expertise in the development and implementation of automation and safety applications. Origo Solutions will utilise HIMA's global presence to drive the international business, especially in the renewable energy sector. As the regional centre for Scandinavia, the Norwegian company will also be responsible for sales and service in Sweden and Denmark.
Broader portfolio
Existing Origo Solutions customers will benefit from a broader portfolio of solutions and access to HIMA's global sales, engineering and partner network. HIMA's existing Swedish and Danish customers will benefit from the proximity to Norway through optimised services and more efficient processes.
“It is a win-win situation for HIMA and Origo Solutions with numerous synergies: HIMA will benefit from our many years of experience in developing security applications and we at Origo Solutions can utilise HIMA's expanded solution portfolio and global sales and service presence to boost our business”, said Bjørn-Tore Lenes, CEO of Origo Solutions.
HIMA will ensure management continuity: Bjørn-Tore Lenes as CEO and Glenn Kjetil Nystøl as CFO will continue to lead Origo Solutions. The 100 employees in Kristiansand (head office), Stavanger and Arendal will be retained and further recruitment is planned. The company will continue to operate under the name “Origo Solutions” with the addition “A HIMA Company”.
