Sealing manufacturer opens green production facility
The new plant will increase the annual production of shock absorber and steering components by 15 percent.
The new, state-of-the-art production facility of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies in Parets del Vallès near Barcelona replaces the existing plant at the same location. A great deal of emphasis was placed on sustainability and climate protection during the redesign.
The systems in the new building are powered entirely by green electricity. 25 percent comes directly from the photovoltaic system on the roof of the plant. The new production facility in Parets del Vallès covers 6,800 square metres. The new plant with 171 employees will increase the annual production of shock absorber and steering components by 15 percent.
“The investment in the new plant in Parets del Vallès is the best example of Freudenberg's commitment to the automotive industry on the one hand and to Spain as a business location on the other”, says Carlos Arnau Calduc, Vice President at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies and responsible for the site.
The new production facility brings Freudenberg Sealing Technologies another step closer to its ambitious climate targets: by 2025, relative CO2 emissions are to be reduced by 30 percent compared to 2020 - measured in tonnes of CO2 per million euros in sales. By 2030, electricity requirements are to be sourced exclusively from renewable energies. Freudenberg Sealing Technologies aims to be a climate-neutral company by 2045.
