SAMSON Advances “MainChange” Project with Partial Sale of Company Site
SAMSON has sold part of its company premises in Frankfurt to the transmission network operator TenneT TSO based in Bayreuth.
As announced on its website, SAMSON has sold a portion of its company premises in Frankfurt/Main to the transmission network operator TenneT TSO. The sale is intended to help finance the new headquarters.
In 2021, SAMSON decided to build a new corporate headquarters and main production facility in Offenbach/Main, and since mid-2023, construction work for the “MainChange” project has been underway. As part of this innovation project, a third of the previous company premises has now transferred to TenneT TSO. The buyer, based in Bayreuth, plans to use the area for network expansion measures in the Rhine-Main area and to secure electricity supply in Germany. For SAMSON, the site directly on the Main is no longer conducive to the planned development; instead, the proceeds from the sale will benefit the construction of the new location.
Dr. Dominic Deller, a board member and CFO, sees the “MainChange” project as a “lighthouse project for Germany.” The initiative aims to demonstrate that competitive production and a scalable factory-in-the-city are possible in Germany. Manufacturing operations at the new site are expected to start in mid-2025, with the relocation of operations from Frankfurt to Offenbach to follow by the end of 2026, and the sold area to be handed over to TenneT. SAMSON also plans to sell the remaining part of the company premises over the course of the year.
