Contract signing between Peter Heydecker, EnBW's Board Member for Sustainable Generation Infrastructure, and Fatema Al Nuaimi, Executive Vice President, Downstream Business Management at ADNOC.
EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW) has finalized a 15-year contract with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The UAE-based company will provide EnBW with 0.6 million tons of LNG annually (mmtpa) starting from the scheduled 2028 commissioning of the Ruwais LNG project. This agreement is part of EnBW’s ongoing strategy to expand its LNG activities and diversify its gas supply sources.
Once operational, the Ruwais project, with a total capacity of 9.6 mmtpa, will be the first LNG liquefaction facility in the Middle East powered by low-carbon energy sources. The electric drive of the liquefaction plant will optimize the CO2 footprint of the LNG production. Additionally, the use of advanced AI technologies will enhance the energy efficiency of the entire process.
