Industeel’s wear-resistant Relia®400 steel is now available as XCarb®, recycled, renewably produced sheet metal, at Universal Eisen und Stahl GmbH.
Using renewable energy in the production phase is not the only way to decarbonise the industry; resource-conserving processes and the use of low-carbon raw materials also ensure the industry’s transformation. Industeel, a business division of ArcelorMittal Downstream Solutions, is also pursuing this goal and is now supplying XCarb®, recycled and renewably manufactured Relia® sheets, to its customer Universal Eisen und Stahl.
Relia® 400 is manufactured using recycled steel scrap in an electric arc furnace that runs on wind energy, which reduces its carbon footprint by about 60% compared to conventional steel production. The sheets are available in thicknesses up to 100 mm and have a third-party product carbon footprint certification of 1.1 tonnes of CO2eq per tonne of sheet metal.
Founded in 1958, Universal Eisen und Stahl GmbH is one of the highest-performing suppliers on today’s market. In their Neuss and Hanover warehouses, they offer their customers approximately 60,000 tonnes of steel in 40 different grades, which now also includes our high-quality, carbon-reduced steel sheets.
